CleanShot started as a free tool for grabbing clean screenshots from YouTube videos, and found its real use case by accident: people were pasting those frames into LinkedIn carousels by hand.
So it became that. Open a video, open the side panel, and thirty seconds later you had a ten-image carousel with copy and hashtags, assembled by a Cloudflare Workers backend, ready to post.
The pivot from free-with-donations to a $19/month SaaS was half-finished when the project stalled in April 2026. The demo video still shows the 30-second flow working end to end. It sits in the archive as a lesson about pivoting a tool with users into a product with customers — they are not the same motion.
